I have spent most of my working life helping companies make clear decisions. It took me embarrassingly long to ask the only question that really mattered: is this true for me?
Not sensible. Not what a good leader would do. Not what the people around me expected. True for me, the way I am actually built.
I did not have an answer. Most of us do not. We learned so much about how things should be done, how to learn, how to decide, how to succeed, how to love, that somewhere along the way we stopped noticing who we are underneath all of it. We navigate by guessing, and we call it experience.
The rules were never made for us
Look at how most of us chose a study, a profession, a way of working. Grades. Expectations. What paid well. What the people we admired did. Good inputs, all of them, and not one of them about how you take in the world, how you make a decision you can stand behind, or why some rooms fill you with energy and others quietly drain you.
So we build a life on borrowed rules. It works, more or less, until it does not. A burnout. A job that looks perfect and feels wrong. A relationship where the same conversation keeps repeating. In those moments the question changes. We stop asking “How should I live?” and start asking “How am I built to live?”
A map of how you are built
Human Design gave me language for that question. Give it the moment you were born, date, time and place, and it draws a map of how you are built: where you are consistent and where you are open, how energy moves through you, and where in you a decision is actually made. For some that is the gut. For others the heart. For others, time.
What struck me was that it does not describe how you tend to behave, the way every assessment I had taken at work did. It describes the foundation underneath the behaviour. The part that was there before anyone taught you anything.
What my own map said
I am a Projector, with a 2/4 profile and what Human Design calls a self-projected authority. In plain language: I am built to see, understand and guide, not to grind. My energy works when it is recognised and invited, and it drains when I push. I find out what I actually think by saying it out loud to someone I trust, not by deciding alone in my head. And I was never built to convince the masses. My influence travels one conversation at a time, through the people close to me.
Reading that was like being handed the minutes of my own career. The rooms that gave me energy were the ones where I had been invited in to bring clarity. The ones that drained me were the ones where I was pushing to be heard. The strength was never the doing. It was seeing the whole system, and the people in it, and saying what I saw at a moment someone was ready to hear it. The shadow side has a name too, bitterness, and I recognised that as well, from every time I had tried to force a door that was only cracked open.
None of that was new information. It was the first time it had been said back to me in a way I could use.
There was one problem. Every tool I tried handed me a chart full of symbols and left me to do the translating. The information was there. The understanding was not.
The reading I wished existed
So I built it. First for myself: a reading that explains your design the way a good friend would, in plain language, without the jargon in the way. Readable the same day. Usable on a Monday morning.
Then I added the people I love. Reading how they are built changed something. The thing that always annoyed me turned out to be design, not disrespect. And the readings about us, about the space between two people, where we click and where the friction comes from, turned out to be the ones I kept coming back to.
Then the people I work with. Then the practitioners who asked if they could use it with their clients. That is how a personal project became reloom. The ambition grew. The reason did not change: I wanted something that helps people remember who they are.
What the name means
re·loom: to take the loose threads of who you are and weave them, patiently, into something whole.
Not a makeover. Not a new you. A re-weaving of what was already there, including the parts you set aside because they did not fit the pattern you were handed. And because threads are never woven alone, reloom also means togetherness. A reconnection, first to yourself, and through that to everyone around you.
There is a short film at the heart of it. A young man sees a street cook struggling to lift her cart onto the sidewalk and simply helps. Not because anyone asked, not for a reward, not noticing the people judging him. He helps because that is who he is. That is the belief underneath reloom: every human being carries a blueprint that is wired to reconnect with others. When one person lives from that foundation, everyone around them is lifted with them.
Insight is not the point
A reading that only makes you feel seen changes nothing. reloom is built for the moments where life actually happens: a career switch, a new relationship, a child, a burnout, a fresh start. It does not do the growing for anyone. It moves the plant to the water.
From there it is yours. Make the decision that is true for you. Say the thing in a way the other person can actually hear. Rebuild the way you live, work and connect from your own design instead of borrowed rules. One person at a time, and never only one person, because self-knowledge spreads through the people who help others.
Where it lives now
reloom lives at reloom.life. It is free to begin: enter a birth moment and read your own blueprint the same day. There are readings for yourself, for the people you love and for whole teams and families, in seven languages. For Human Design practitioners, coaches and studios there is a free WordPress plugin that brings their clients’ charts and readings into the dashboard they already use.
The full story of what it does is on the project page. This post is only about why.
Three questions people ask me
What is reloom, in one sentence?
A Human Design platform that turns your birth moment into a clear, warm, plain-language map of who you are and how you are built to live, work, decide and connect, at reloom.life.
Why Human Design and not another personality model?
Because it describes how you are built, not how you tend to behave. Every model I had used at work measured behaviour. I wanted the foundation underneath it.
What is your own Human Design?
Projector, 2/4 profile, self-projected authority. Built to see and guide rather than to push, at my best when invited in, and clearest about a decision once I have said it out loud to someone I trust.
Is it only for people who already know Human Design?
No. It was built for the opposite reader: someone with no prior knowledge who wants to understand themselves the same day. The precise vocabulary is there for those who want it, one click away.
Most of us navigate life by guessing. We do not have to. Give reloom a birth moment and it will hand you the blueprint that was there all along. Create your chart for free, read what reloom is, or get the WordPress plugin if you work with clients. And if this resonates, I would love to hear from you.
